310S Stainless Steel Wire Mesh
310S stainless steel mesh (UNS S31008) is a premium high-temperature & oxidation-resistant austenitic stainless steel weaved mesh. The "S" stands for "Low Carbon (≤0.08%)," which minimizes carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature exposure. Its primary characteristic is excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion at elevated temperatures, combined with good strength and creep resistance.
Typical Chemical Composition:
Grade | Chromium (Cr) | Nickel (Ni) | Carbon (C) | Manganese (Mn) | Silicon (Si) | Iron (Fe) |
310S | 24.0 – 26.0% | 19.0 – 22.0% | ≤ 0.08% | ≤ 2.0% | ≤ 1.5% | Balance |

(1) Sintered & Special Forms
l Sintered Laminate Mesh: 3–5 layers (protective+filter+support); filtration rating 5 μm ~ 100 μm; thickness 1.2–4.5 mm; no mesh shifting, high mechanical rigidity
l Filter Discs/Cartridges/Pleated Elements: For pressure filtration, gas separation, high-temperature dust collection
l Crimped Mesh: For heavy-duty high-temperature screening
Main Performance & Advantages
Mechanical Properties (Annealed, Room Temperature):
· Tensile strength ≥520 MPa; Yield strength (0.2% offset) ≥205 MPa; Elongation (δ5) ≥40%;
· Non-magnetic (annealed; slightly magnetic after cold working);
· Not hardenable by heat treatment (annealing at 1140–1175°C, water quenching recommended)
Exceptional High-Temperature Performance
· Continuous Service: Withstands temperatures up to 1150°C (2100°F).
· Intermittent Service: Handles thermal cycling up to 1035°C (1900°F).
· It resists scaling (oxidation) in air and combustion atmospheres due to its high chromium and silicon content.
Good Corrosion Resistance
· Offers superior resistance to general corrosion compared to 304 and 316 in many environments.
· Resists corrosion in high-sulfur atmospheres (common in petrochemical furnaces) and molten salts.
High Creep Strength
· It maintains structural integrity under mechanical stress at high temperatures, preventing the mesh from sagging or deforming over time.
Common Applications
· Heat Treatment & Furnace Industry: Furnace liners, radiant tubes, heating element supports, high-temperature flue gas filtration
· Chemical & Petrochemical: High-temperature catalyst recovery, molten salt filtration, sulfuric acid plant high-temperature sections, incinerator exhaust filters
· Power Generation: Flue gas desulfurization (FGD), boiler air preheater screens, high-temperature dust removal
· Metallurgy: Molten metal filtration, slag separation, annealing furnace atmosphere purification
· Aerospace & Industrial Heating: High-temperature gas turbines, thermal processing equipment components
